What is something you do well?

I do not know if I do well in drawing but a lot of my friends always told me that I do well when it comes to drawing. I also admit that I'm good at drawing. I don't really mean to show of but that is my true talent. I already told you in 'A letter to Mrs. Sim' that my hobby is drawing. My sister told me that my family knows how to draw. Each of my family member has their own type of drawing styles. My father and me knows how to draw cartoons. My elder sister knows how to draw landscapes and my mother knows how to draw almost everything. My younger sister is still learning how to draw. This is the end of what I am going to write. (I think anyone can learn how to draw)

What is your favourite month? Why?

My favourite month is March because on 16 of March is my birthday. When it is the 1st of March, I will always make a count down until the day of my birthday. There is one girl from 5-1 named Hadirah. Her birthday falls on the same day as me. Unfortunately, Hadirah and my birthday is during the March holidays so my class cannot celebrate my birthday on the actual date. Luckily, this year, my birthday is on Sunday, right before school reopens. On Saturday,I have chinese ochestra and I can tell my chinese ochestra friends and the instructor that the day after is my birthday. On Sunday(which is my birthday), I also have chinese orchestra so they will bring me presents!Hooray!!!!! After my birthday, I will have presents again because I will meet my closest friends.(If they remember my birthday...) I will have to remind myself to wish happy birthday to Hadirah. That is all I have to say......Bye!

What is something that makes you angry?

The thing that makes me feel sad are insults. I hate to hear people giving insults either to me or to another person. It breaks my heart to hear such rude words and bad things about me coming out of a person's mouth. It does not only breaks my heart but other people's heart too. I recalled that I also had been saying insults to my younger sister. Ever since that day, I felt guilty and bad for insulting my younger sister. Even if I did insulted my younger sister, she still love me. I was relieved that she is not mad about me insulting her. In the future, I do not want to ever give an insult to anybody... unless I could not control myself!

What is the worst thing parents can do to their children?

The worst thing parents can do to their children is critise them in their studies. If their children did not do well in their studies eventhough they have work hard, parents should encourage them. Parents in Singapore tend to emphasis more on higher marks and good position in class rather than giving them support, praises and words of encouragement. This way, the parents would just be giving their child more and more stress. They would even say things such as ''You must do well in your studies or no gameboy for two weeks!'' or ''You must get a good position in class or you cannot play with your friends for one week!''. I feel that it is a wrong thing to do. As a parent, they should be nice to the child wether the child has done well or not. Even if the child has done well, they should be praising the child in a good way. Instead of saying ''Good work! I want to see this kind of work every day or you will get canning from me!'', they should be saying ''Excellent! I am proud of you son! You are so smart!''. I hope that parents in Singapore or any part of the world would not put pressure on their children.

What is the best birthday present I could receive?

Many children love to have a lot of presents for their birthday such as pets, toys and even money. I also would love to have toys and money but there is one present that I would like to have every year of my birthday. The present is spending my birthday with my family and friends. I do not really know if it is really a birthday present to other people but to me its something a person should have for his or her birthday. Now you know what I want for my birthday. I hope that some people would feel the same way as I do.

A letter for Mrs. Sim

Dear Mrs. Sim,

Hi! This is Liyana here. I can't believe that it's already 2nd January 2008! That means it is the first day of school! Anyway, you might not know me that well so I should probably introduce myself.

My name is Liyana Kaiyisah Mohamed Hatta. I love to read books! My favourite authors are Roald Dahl and James Lee. Roald Dahl wrote a lot of children storybooks such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, Boy and more. James Lee writes horror stories. I think that both James Lee and Roald Dahl's stories appeal to children because all the stories are very intresting and have exciting adventures. Other than books, I also love to draw. If I want to draw, I got to have a lot of imagination. I sometimes imagine lots of things such as aliens and monsters. I also love to draw people and animals. Maybe someday I will show you my drawings. My favourite colours are sea blue, sky blue and turquoise. My ambition is to be either an artist or an author.

I believe you asked me about my study habits and what I like about my school. I will draw up a timetable and plan. I will look at all my mistakes from my old tests and try to redo the questions. What I like about my school is that the school is caring and encourages us to study. My school also have a lot of activities for the students such as learning journeys and more.

I got to rush of to class! Thank you for reading this letter! I hope to get a reply from you.

Yours sincerely,
Liyana Kaiyisah
